FAQ: The five most frequent asked questions by Debie’s students are: Is it safe to do Yoga during pregnancy? Yes, if it's designed for pregnancy. Even if you've been doing Yoga for years you still need to modify your routine and focus on the safety and security of the pregnancy first. When can I start Yoga? Right away if you have permission from your doctor. Some women suffer from nausea and dizziness during the first trimester. If you're one of these women than wait until this subsides before you begin your practice of Yoga. Can I go to any Yoga class? No. Some are to strenuous and not every teacher is trained in Antenatal Yoga. Avoid all together Yoga classes in overheated rooms or saunas. What precautions should I take? During pregnancy your body produces a hormone called relaxin. Relaxin loosens ligaments and joints making you more susceptible to sprains and injury. Don't overstretch and be careful when twisting to avoid straining your sacroiliac joint. Avoid pressure on the abdomen and discontinue all back lying poses after the fifth month, or earlier if you feel dizzy. What are the benefits of doing Yoga during pregnancy? Yoga is one of the best ways to prepare your body and mind for childbirth.
